Outdoor StaffMark Oswood - Outdoors, Climbing Wall & Aquatics SupervisorMark is responsible for the Outdoors, Climbing Wall and Aquatics programs here at Rec Sports. He is a skilled outdoorsman and energetic guy. Mark tells us he can tame any river in a canoe. However, when he is caged in the department's office, he conquers the rabid photo copier instead. In the circle of Rec Sports, mark prey's on the marketing team. If you like to swim, climb, hike, surf, snowboard or just enjoy the outdoors, Mark is here for you. (909)537-3863moswood@csusb.eduShannon Beasley - OD Staff SupervisorShannon is a Junior, majoring in Nutrition and Food Sciences at CSUSB. Upon graduation she would like to become a Registered Dietitian. Her hobbies include surfing, snowboarding, kayaking, hiking and camping. She loves adventure, thrill seeking and trying new things, with the exception of eating food with onions. She is an active student, involved on campus as a trip leader for CSUSB Outdoors, in Kappa Delta Sorority, Nutrition Student Association, and more. Scott Jerzak - Climbing Wall SupervisorScott is from the local mountains and is a senior at CSUSB. He is working towards a degree in Studio Art, concentration Photography. Scott is an Eagle Scout and has over 10 years experience in mountain travel. During his adventures he has learned skills in mountaineering, rock climbing, backpacking and trail running. His free time is spent taking pictures and venturing off on crazy trips. Some of his favorite accomplishments include completing the 211+ mile John Muir Trail in 12 days, hiking rim to rim of the Grand Canyon and summiting Mount Whitney. Some of his favorite places include Joshua Tree National Park, the Sierra Mountains, and anywhere else his plans may take him. Chris Melendez - Equipment Supervisor / OD StaffChris is a senior and is studying to get his B.A. in Geography, with a Certification in GIS. He hopes to one day get his masters and do environmental research to save our planet. With CSUSB Outdoors he is the Equipment supervisor and maintaining the equipment for outings, and leads outings. When not in school you can find him hiking the local mountains, kayaking, climbing or just enjoying what nature has to offer. His personal mission in the CSUSB Outdoors program is to make it better for future students and to help people appreciate our planet's beauty. Rocket - OD MascotRocket is in his first year at CSUSB and is undeclared as a major. He
hopes to get accepted into the nursing program but is confronted with
the challenge of being a stuffed animal and not able to take
someone's temperature or give shots.With CSUSB Outdoors, he acts as
our official mascot and plays the important role of "keeping it
real"? on each outing. When not on an outing, Rocket can be found
nesting deep inside of someone's backpack. Sara Calderon - OD StaffSara is in her 3rd year, majoring in Human Services and currently
working in Membership (woohoo!) here at Rec Sports. As a recent
transfer to CSUSB, she looks forward to getting involved on campus,
soaking up as much knowledge as possible and enjoying life as a
student. Although she can't remember the last time she was bored, she
decided to take the challenge of leading outdoor trips! Sara loves
being outside, staying active, and being part of a team! She's really
excited to learn from the pro's (Current Outdoors Staff) and hopes to
have a great time Zach Cyrus - OD Staff"Fill what is empty, empty what is full and scratch where it itches." Oh yeah, and my favorite thing to do is EAT. Matt Driscoll - Web ProgrammerMatt is a Senior at CSUSB working toward a B.S. in Computer Science.
He is here to solve all of the departments techology problems and make sure
the website is looking spiffy. Matt constructed this website from the ground up. So, if there are any problems with it, he is to blame. Matt also handles marketing by designing flyers, trifolds, creating videos and other promotional items. When he is gone, the
buiding will fall into total chaos and be lost forever. (909)537-3877driscolm@csusb.eduJay Dumalo - OD StaffJay is working toward a business degree with a concentration in entrepreneurial management and a minor in information management.  He has a side of him that loves nothing more than spending hours being lost reading a great book. Than there is another side of him that lives off of adventure and exploring what the world has to offer. Jay plans to visit as many countries as he can afford to. His hobbies include hiking, biking, rafting, running, camping, and snowboarding. One of Jay’s goals before he turns 30 is to enter the American Idol singing competition and make it at least to the Hollywood round. He has been known to bust out a Mariah Carey or Celine Dion song here or there. To quote his friend Stephanie on his vocal ability she says, “Jay is AMAZING! He sounds like an angel from heaven that makes me want to cry and plug my ears because it’s that good.� And that ladies and gentleman is just something we all must witness. Megan Gneiting - Climbing Wall StaffMegan is in her 2nd year here at CSUSB and is majoring in International Business with a minor in Spanish. She has worked at the wall since it opened and has loved every minute of it! In her spare time, Megan loves to do everything outdoors. Indoors is nice sometimes too-especially a good episode of LOST and good food. Megan loves to travel and thinks all of her employees are fantastic. Megan also works with the Outdoors on a variety of different trips that correspond with the things she is most passionate about. She looks forward to building more of a rock climbing community here on campus! Matt Grover - Climbing Wall / OD StaffMatt is in his first year at CSUSB working towards his Masters in National Security Studies. He is an avid hunter and loves being outdoors. Coming from Oregon, Matt is the only driver in California who obeys traffic laws and knows how to use a turn signal. Matt is excited to work at the climbing wall, and excited to work in a new atmosphere. Teri Hinebaugh - OD StaffTeri has been with CSUSB Outdoors since our auspicious start in the Fall of 2005 having lead many of our group outings and our amazing Spring Break trip in 2006 to the Grand Canyon. Teri has the wonderful ability to look graceful while stumbling and dropping things and despite her complete lack of sense of direction she hasn't gotten a group lost... yet. Jeffrey Kilgore - Membership / Outdoor StaffJeffrey is majoring in Kinesiology with an exercise science concentration; however, his area of interest is in medicine. Jeff works the front desk as membership staff and he is on the promotions team for the Rec Center. He is involved with intramurals sports, the outdoors program, and K.S.A. When he is not watching Smallville or Family Guy you can find him outside goofing around. He has been going on camping trips all his life and mastering the skills of snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, mountain biking and so much more. His passion lies in the mountains between the lakes and the trails. Jon Martin - OD Staff / Personal Trainer / Sweat!Education: A.S. Fire Science, B.S Kinesiology / Pedagogy (in progress) Georgia Pallas - OD StaffGeorgia received her BA in Mathematics (graduated with honors =p) in June 2006 and is currently working on her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics. She works as the office manager for California Faculty Association and substitutes for the Snowline Unified School District in Phelan, CA. As if that was not already enough, Georgia is also the secretary for Circle of Kiwanis on campus, a Student Ambassador (Presidential Scholar), secretary for Philoptochos (philanthropic group at my church). In her free time (wherever she finds that), she enjoys participating in community service activities, loves the outdoors: hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, etc. and loves soccer, photography & cooking! Like everyone else, she would like to travel the entire world during my lifetime; CSUSB Outdoors has allowed her explore quite a bit so far! Kristin Schmitt - OD StaffKristin is in her second year at CSUSB as a pre-nursing major. Her love of adventure takes her backpacking, skiing, kayaking, scuba diving and camping. Her goals include traveling the world, jumping out of helicopters to be dropped on a cornice of un-skied terrain, scuba diving through the Great Barrier Reef, and backpacking across the Dolomites. Maybe you'd like to come along? When she's not off on adventure, Kristin works in the office and helps plan upcoming trips. Cameron Venne - Climbing Wall / OD StaffCameron is in his third year at CSUSB and has changed his major to Philosophy, but also has a strong interest in Biology (the animals mostly). He has no clue what he wants to do with his life but is content to go with the flow and experience new things as they come along. Surprisingly this has already led to many adventures out in the wilderness and in countries around the world. Cameron loves climbing, camping, traveling, road tripping, backpacking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and lounging in a hammock with a cold one. Lisa Yancheff - Climbing Wall / OD StaffLisa is in her first year at CSUSB working on her masters in National Security Studies. Coming from the true northern California Lisa loves the outdoors! Lisa loves going camping, climbing, hiking, playing sports, just everything! Lisa is stoked about the climbing wall and working with Teri! |
