Santa Barbara is situated on an east-west trending section of the West United States coastline. With the city laying between the steeply-rising Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean this city is known for being the picture perfect beach life. Santa Barbara is Southern California at its finest. Also referred to as the American Riviera, Santa Barbra has beautiful beaches, majestic mountains and colorful culture that make Santa Barbara a premier destination. In other words… the perfect place for a weekend kayak trip!
Day 1: Participants will meet out in front of CSUSB’s SRWC (Student Recreation Wellness Center) at 800am. You will then have a beautiful 3 & 1/2 hour drive, approximately 169 miles, to downtown Santa Barbara. Once you arrive in Santa Barbara you will have a chance to explore downtown and grab a bite to eat. At roughly 230pm you will then meet back up with the group and spend the rest of the afternoon kayaking out on the water. After spending about 3 hours kayaking, everyone will help load the kayaks back onto the trailer and head off to Carpinteria State Beach where you will be camping for the night. Once arriving at the campsite, it is a group effort to set up camp and cook dinner. The rest of the evening is spent around the campfire sharing stories and eating s’mores.
Day 2: Day two begins when the participants rise and shine at 800am. Breakfast will be served at camp followed by the breakdown of camp by 900am. The group will then prepare for another adventure out on the water. Everyone will make a sack lunch that they will take with them out on the water before leaving camp. While out on the water everyone will group up and enjoy their homemade sack lunch. By 300pm, we will prepare everything for the drive home. On the way back to CSUSB, we will stop along road and grab a bite to eat. You will arrive back at the SRWC at approximately 800pm.
