CicLAvia is a car-free street event that offers miles of road for participants to explore. CicLAvia makes the streets safe for people to walk, skate, play and ride a bike. There are activities along the route. Shop owners and restaurants are encouraged to open their doors to people along the CicLAvia. The route will take people through Boyle Heights, the Arts District, Little Tokyo, Civic Center, Chinatown, Historic Core, and as far west as MacArthur Park. Bring your own bike, skateboard or just good walking shoes!

395 Road Trip

ROAD TRIP! Pack your bags and bring your favorite tunes! The US 395 stretches over 1000 miles through 4 states. Heading north accompanied by the Sierra Nevada on a quest to Convict Lake, Erick Schat's Bakery, Manzanar, Mammoth Lakes, Devils Postpile National Monument and other iconic places as we embark on a road trip on the 395.

Whether you are a pro surfer or just a beginner, come and enjoy a day of surfing and playing on the beach. The Southern California coastline boasts some of the world's best surfing along the Orange and LA county beaches. No experience is required, as instruction will be provided. Don't feel like surfing? You are still welcome to come along to play in the sand or stroll along the coastline.

Zion National Park Camping
Date/Time: August 7th - 9th 2016 8am Sunday - 10pm Tuesday
With towering cliff walls surrounding the powerful Virgin River, Zion National Park in Utah allows you to experience something that you will likely never forget. On this trip we will hike the famous Angels Landing Trail filled with switchbacks ascending over sheer cliffs. Also, we will hike through the Narrows and up the Virgin River where surrounding walls reach up to 2,400 feet above your head. Absorb the beauty of the world around you while enjoying the beauty of Zion National Park.
CSUSB Outdoors mission is to provide the community with a diverse range of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities. We incorporate "Leave No Trace" and cultural/historical knowledge about the areas we visit. Participants will learn how to recreate safely in the great outdoors, develop an appreciation and understanding of our natural surroundings, experience personal growth and leadership development, learn teamwork and healthy communication skills, form new relationships and of course... have fun!
CSUSB Outdoors offers something for everyone! Day hikes into the local mountains, overnight camping trips to a local beach, state, and national parks, backpacking in remote wilderness locations, surfing in California's popular beaches, snowboarding at local mountain resorts, kayaking in the bay, ocean, and the river, group outings, team building and education programs.
No experience is required to participant. CSUSB Outdoors will provide transportation, food and all the gear you will need for your outing.
Our programs are open to the entire CSUSB community - students, staff, faculty, Alumni Association Members, and affiliates.
Registration for trips and programs takes place in person at the CSUSB Student Recreation and Wellness Center membership desk during regular operating hours. Full payment (cash, check, Visa or MasterCard) is due at time of reservation. For more information give us a call at 537-CAMP. Registration for trips and programs takes place in person at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus Administrative Offices (RG203) during regular operating hours. Call 909-537-2348 for the campus phone outside RG203 to check availability and to complete registration information. After completing registration you will make full payment by cash, check or debit card (no credit cards) to the Administrative Office. Some programs do not require registration, are open to nonmembers and youth. See program description for details.
All CSUSB Outdoors trips are alcohol, tobacco, and illegal substance free.
Cancelation and Transferring Policy
All trips must be paid in full at time of enrollment. To cancel your participation, you must contact (909) 537-BFIT. Failure to contact CSUSB Recreation & Wellness at least 72 hours in advance will result in a 100% loss of fees or a fee equal to the trip's value. 72 hours to 7 days will result in a 25% cancelation fee or a fee equal to 25% of the trip's value, minimum $10. Cancelations more than 7 days will result in a full transfer of fees or a refund minus a $10 processing fee. You will also be responsible for any non-refundable fees incurred due to your cancelation. Transferring trips/programs constitutes a cancellation and is subject to the aforementioned policy Transfers must occur at the time of trip cancellation. Trip values can be found on our website. All refunds are by check and take 4-6 weeks to process.
