Climbing Wall Supervisor

Definition:

Under the general direction of the Outdoor Programs Coordinator, the Climbing
Wall Supervisor will have the responsibility of program development of the Rec
Sports Climbing Wall.

Duties:

Assisting with development of manuals and safety management procedures.
Maintaining records and evaluations of program; managing program equipment
including routes, holds, ropes, belaying devices, and other equipment.
Facilitate climbing wall open climb hours, climbing clinics, and special events.
Climbing Supervisor will also assist in the recruitment and training of Climbing
Staff.
The incumbent will perform other comparable duties as assigned by the Outdoor
Programs Coordinator including completing daily participation
reports/maintenance forms.

Qualifications:

Education: Must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) units at California State
University, San Bernardino and maintain a quarterly and cumulative G.P.A. above
2.0.
Experience: Climbing wall training will be offered. The incumbent will
demonstrate the knowledge and technical skills associated with standard outdoor
adventure programming and indoor rock climbing. Possess mobility, balance and
willingness to travel by foot over uneven, narrow, and slippery terrain in adverse
weather conditions for extended periods of time. Participate in extensive physical
exercise and exertion during outdoor activities involving arms, hands, fingers,
legs and feet. Possess rock climbing skills and agility. Tie knots and pull hand
over hand using ropes. Stand and walk for extended periods. Occasionally lift
and carry loads of more than 60 pounds and the ability to speak and write
effectively. The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to manage and train staff.
In addition the incumbent will possess beginning skill level using Microsoft Office
Suite applications. Intermediate skills in the use of email and the internet. The
ability to travel both within the state and nationally is required. Certification in
CPR and First Aid are required and will be offered.

Compensation:

$8.50 - $14.00 per hour.
