Recreational Sports is proud to announce Salina Guerrero as the November Rock Star of the Month.  Salina has worked for the Rec Center since June 2011, for the Membership Services area.  In this short time, Salina has demonstrated such passion and energy for her position.  In all of her training, she took thorough notes and diligently studied, so she was prepared for anything that came her way.  As an avid fitness guru, her goal is to spread the energy for fitness to those around her.  She loves to interact with the members and get them "pumped up" for their workouts!  We look forward to many more great adventures with Salina G!

Danielle Johnson October 2011

Department: Membership

Recreational Sports is proud to announce Danielle Johnson as the October Rock Star of the Month.  Danielle has worked for the Rec Center since Fall 2009, for the Intramurals program and now for Membership Services.  In this time, she has developed into a true leader for the department.  She has a passion for communication within her team and with the members.  Often, she takes it upon herself to send out important emails with updates and information to her co-workers, in hopes it will assist during their transactions with members.  We have received compliments from members on how helpful and courteous she was during each situation.  She chooses to bring a great attitude to work and it certainly shows!  We are lucky to have on the team.

Bryanna Burns September 2011

Department: Aquatics

Recreational Sports is proud to announce Bryanna Burns as the September Rock Star of the Month.  Bryanna is a true leader and contributes greatly in three positions.  She is a dynamic water safety instructor, lifeguard and customer service manager.  Recreational Sports can always count on Bryanna to provide feedback and input that is appropriate and useful.  Her ultimate goal was to ensure we provide safe and fun programs for our participants.  In addition, she would take it upon herself to help other lifeguards practice and improve their life saving skills. Bryanna is a fabulous instructor and parents LOVED her as much as the kids. It is a true pleasure call Bryanna a Recreational Sports Rock Star.  She is a role model for the entire staff.

Department: Outdoors Climbing Wall

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Ricardo Loza the July Rock Star of the Month. Ricardo started at Rec Sports as a volunteer trip leader for the Outdoor program and has been a great asset to our team ever since. In addition to volunteering to lead Outdoors trip he plans and prepares trips as well. When Ricardo is at work you can count on things getting done the right way and in a timely manner. He is always in a positive mode, has a smile on his face and takes initiative. Since joining our team Ricardo has repeatedly stepped up to when needed by leading a trip, covering the climbing wall or filling the role of supervisor for the summer. Ricardo‘s enthusiasm is present in everything he does whether cleaning up from a trip, researching a future trip or doing a food buy. Ricardo is a role model to other student employees and is truly dedicated to the success of the Rec Center. Ricardo does it all!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Twila Crook as the June 2011 Rock Star of the Month. We are so very proud of Twila and the great employee she has become. In her position with Membership Services, she provides a welcoming environment for any visitor to the Rec Center. Her warm smile, soft voice and vast knowledge provide our members with a positive experience. During her shifts, she takes it upon herself to clean the area, organize the files, send reminder communications to other staff and to better her knowledge of all programs offered by Rec Sports. We often get positive feedback from our members about the awesome customer service they received from Twila. The Membership desk is certainly a great place because of Twila!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Anjuli Nieto as the May 2011 Rock Star of the Month.  As a Customer Service Manager, Anjuli is a pleasure to have on our team.  She consistently is a great example of dedication and initiative!  Other staff know they can count on her to do the best job she can, no matter the situation.  Often, we have members asking for her assistance, even when she is not working.  Her smile and energy are contagious.  Other staff look to her as a role model of what an employee should be.  We are honored to have her representing Rec Sports!  Thank you Anjuli!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Shawn Mohamed as the April 2011 Rock Star of the Month. Shawn, the Intramural Program has grown significantly and the whole program is buzzing due to your tremendous leadership and never ending energy. Our entire department of Recreational Sports is excited about our program. Intramurals has broken new ground with our RHA Battle of the Hall leagues and our new tennis program is amazing. Our members are having a great time and our outreach has been amazing. Reaching out to the Yasuda Center has also allowed us to embrace our foreign exchange students and the sky is the limit. I also appreciate your holistic approach and how you promote every program we offer while helping Intramurals, you are truly a team player. Congratulations and always reach for the stars.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Kara Jenkins as the January 2011 Rock Star of the Month.  As a Customer Service Manager, Kara works extremely hard to do the very best job she can.  Whether on duty or off, Kara truly cares about the Rec Center and its members.  On several occasions, Kara has filled in for others, in various area within Rec Sports.  She is very good at seeing a need and filling it, even before asked by her supervisor.  Because of her Rock Star skills, Kara is often asked to train new staff members.  She takes this responsibility seriously and strives to provide them a good foundation for employment within Rec Sports.  She truly is an outstanding example of what we look for in an employee.  Thank you Kara!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Christina Figueroa as the November 2010 Rock Star of the Month.  As supervisor for the Customer Service Managers, Christina has taken our team to a whole new level!  With her ideas and inspiration are a shining example of what we look for a in a great leader.  Christina is someone who goes above and beyond in all she does.  She helps to arrange meetings, develops creative ways to improve Rec Sports and manages her staff efficiently.  Most people know that they can count on Christina for most anything.  Even if it isn't her responsibility, she will do whatever it takes to get the job done.  As one staff quoted "Christina is complete awesome-ness!"  Sham-WOW!

Department: Climbing Wall

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Andre Khuu the October Rock Star of the Month. Andre IS the Climbing Wall. In addition to being the lead route setter Andre also leads trips for the Outdoors program and helps out coworkers whenever possible. Andre enthusiasm is present in everything he does from setting routes and belaying people to cleaning the climbing holds with a power washer. Having Andre on the climbing wall staff is like having Lebron James on your basketball team. He is that good! Andre is a role model to other student employees and is truly dedicated to the success of the Rec Center. Some words used describe Andre are positive, creative, innovative, encouraging, passionate and supportive. Andre's love for the sport of climbing is evident to all those that have the pleasure of meeting him.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Alex Orr as September's Rock Star of the Month.  Alex has done a fantastic job as the supervisor of the Membership Services staff.  We have had a high turnover rate since the end of Spring and she has made it her personal goal to hire, train and prepare the incoming staff to be the best they can be for Rec Sports.  She redeveloped our training approach and the incoming staff are much more prepared with knowledge and enthusiasm to serve the members of the SRFC.  She takes pride in creating a welcoming and friendly environment for those who come into the Rec Center.  Her dedication and spirit are contagious.  Thanks for all you have done for Rec Sports and we look forward for what's to come!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Chris Oltman as August's Rock Star  of the Month. Chris brings so much joy and life to the Rec Sports family. While up at the pool he is always willing to lend members a helping hand and his love for the water shines through his work each and every day. The children of the summer swim program admire Chris and he even has his own little fan club. His fellow life guards look up to him and turn to him for a good laugh or just a person to talk to. Chris is amazing person and Rec Sports is happy to have him on staff.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce *Jeremy Blythe* as the July Rock Star of the Month. Jeremy is one of the most respected members of our staff and is also the most liked. He loves to Bragg about our building and his tours last about thirty minutes. His nick name is Rico Suabe. He  has a tremendous work ethic, helps everyone he meets and is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is a leader and always has wonderful suggestions for improving our customer service.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Mike Bueti as June's Rock Star  of the Month. Mike is one of the hardest working and friendly employees at Rec Sports. If Mike is not at his client's side, helping them reach their max potential, he is out making people smile on the fitness floor. If you need a helping hand, Mike is your man. He is always there to help the department in any way he can and it is always done with a smile. The other personal trainers look to Mike for advice, assistance, and a good laugh. He is a true leader of the team. Mike is also amazing with his clients and is a highly sought out personal trainer!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Jasmine Zephyer as May's Rock Star  of the Month. She brings an incredible amount of spirit to the Rec Sports Team. Jasmine is recognized for her friendly and warm personality that is shared with all that she comes into contact with. Jasmine is the Rec Sports spokesperson. No matter where you find her, she is talking about and pumping up Rec Sports programs. Take one of Jasmine's dance classes, like Hip Hop X, and you are guarateed to have the most amazing time. She has such a passion and gift for teaching that you can't help but learn and have fun!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Paul Dudley  as April's Rock Star of the Month. Paul has always been the first to learn new rules, also implement our new online registration software, and he has always helped everyone around him. He engages all areas of our programs such as CSM, Outdoors, Aquatics, Membership Services, Operations, and the Climbing Wall. This has fostered good working relationships and helped bridge our staff. He has a great work ethic and has a smile that lights up the room. He is a school DJ and announces commercials for Recreational Sports. He stays late and even tries to work from home. His Intramural leagues are the most popular and most attended. His nick name is Mr. CSUSB because he won the CSUSB pageant. Paul puts in the hard the work and the results are undeniable. It is with great pride and admiration on an award well deserved to Paul Dudley, Mr. CSUSB.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Wayne Calzada as February's Rock Star of the Month. He has been such an asset to the Rec Sports team.  His co-workers say that on the "ladder of legitness", Wayne has achieved Sensei status. He is known for his cool, calm, and collected attitude. No matter the situation, Wayne knows just what to do and always does it with a smile. He has often approached management with ways to improve efficiency and communication in the Rec Center. Not only is he a great staff member, but he is an active participant in our programs.  He truly loves being part of the Rec Center community and we love having him.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Melissa Bernstein as the December Rock Star of the Month.  She has been a great member of the Rec Sports team.  Melissa is a hard working student and an excellent employee who is willing to give 100% time and time again.  She has been with the department for just over 3 years and has been a great constant for the members and the staff.  It is very important to Melissa that all who visit the Rec Center have a positive experience and always want to return.  Melissa is always willing to lend a hand when needed and goes the extra mile without being asked.  We truly appreciate this dedication to the success of the Rec Center.

Todd is a graphic design student assistant at Recreational Sports. He produces amazing flyers along with other amazing graphic designs. You could call him an artist, as many others do. Other CSUSB Departments frequently ask for his services. Todd provides amazing customer service and is always patient, which isn’t always easy with graphic neophytes. Todd consistently deals with opinions changing, and does so with ease. Finally, he is proactive in improving the look of Recreational Sports. He is an excellent role model and ROCK STAR!

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Josh Brannen as the October Rock Star of the Month.  Josh has tirelessly helped out all program areas he works late, weekends, and early mornings. Under his direction intramurals has weekend programs, first time in its history. He is a role model for staff. He also helped develop and implement E-Z facility and scheduler, current project has stats for all games to be included on our site. He has also helped with RHA housing leagues which have impacted our program with huge numbers of participation, also first in our history work actively with, student union program board, ASI, and kinesiology. Our program also has very good staff and it shows customer service is also at an all time high.

Department: Membership

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Andi Okoh as the September Rock Star of the Month.  Andi has been an amazing leader to Membership Services staff.  She is a role model to other student employees and is truly dedicated to the success of the Rec Center.  More over, she played a tremendous role this summer with the SOAR program and with coordinating our role in this huge orientation program for incoming freshman.  She helped make sure that the incoming students' information was in the membership system in order to have easier access to the Student Rec Center.  During her time with Rec Sports, she has become a membership software guru and assisted in the conversion for students who were using random pin codes to using student id numbers to access the facility.  This has made it much easier for student members to remember their access codes, since it is now the same as their student ids.  Great job Andi - I know the students thank you as well.

CSUSB Recreational Sports is proud to announce Philip DeMoss as the August Rock Star of the Month.  Philip has been with Rec Sports since Fall of 2006 and since then has developed into a great example of what a Rec Sports employee should be.  He is currently the Customer Service Manager Supervisor and has helped develop this new program area from scratch.  He assisted in the creation of Rec Connections, our employee orientation program. He is a pleasure to work with and is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.  He has the best interests of his staff and the members at heart with each decision and interaction.

In addition to being a super Aquatics supervisor, Kari Brandt's contributions to the CSUSB Outdoors program is greatly appreciated.  When she is on a trip as a leader our participants are in good hands.  Her positive attitude shows whether it's by wearing an "outfit" to events or attending and participating in staff appreciation events (just ask to see all her participation ribbons!).  Kari is a role model for other staff.  Keep up the good work and thanks for being part of our team!"

Karen keeps us looking good…digitally. She designs and maintains our incredible website, all while making sure it complies with ADA standards. These standards ensure that anyone can read our site, and in doing so, limits features that can be seen on other sites. However, Karen is creative and talented and has taken many of our challenges and made them work. In addition, she helps all areas with their needs. Karen has helped us become world-wide!
