During Open Climb time, the Rock Wall Staff will provide all the necessary supervision during your climb to the top. All equipment is provided. Bouldering is also allowed during open climb. Open Climbing is free and registration is not required.
We have special training and equipment that can assist people with disabilities to climb our wall. If have a disability and would like to climb our wall please give us 72 notice so we can accommodations. Accessible climbing is available anytime the wall is open.
A fun and challenging traverse across the wall or just part way up the wall instead of ascending the whole wall. Boulder is done short distances from the ground and does not require a belay but may require spotting. Bouldering is a great way to work on your technique. Bouldering is available anytime the wall is open.
Learn the basics of belaying and climbing. We will go over climbing commands and terminology as well as knots for climbing. This class is required before you can belay on the wall. The clinic is free. Classes offered weekly. Already know how to belay? You can challenge the clinic.
The Movement Class will teach climbing techniques ranging from basic to more advanced movement skills. Have you seen climbers move gracefully up the wall and wonder how they do that? Want to practice to get a higher score for the next Competition? This class will help you move up the wall and up the rankings. This class is offered every week and will have a new focus each week. Classes are free, simply show up and learn.
More challenging than climbing on a top rope belay, when lead climbing, the lead climber ascends the route, while placing protection on wall anchors. Advanced climbers only. Class fee $8. Advance registration required.
We offer other programs such as, Climbing Competitions, Team Building, Climbing Films, Climbing Wall Campouts, and Group Rentals. Please contact us for details.

Tahquitz, Idyllwild, CA – 1000ft = 30 Routes
This landmark rock is located right in our own back yard, barely more than an hour's drive from CSUSB. It is the birth place of the American system of rating climbing routes, ironically called the Yosemite Decimal System (YDS). In 1952, during the founding of modern climbing, it boasted one of the hardest climb in the US, Open Book, the first 5.9 ever climbed.
Half Dome, Yosemite, CA – 2000ft = 59 Routes
This iconic rock is one of the most recognizable features of the world famous Yosemite Valley. This big wall is home to a route known as Regular Northwest Face which is the first Grade VI climb in the US, meaning a climb that lasts more than two days. The first ascent, in 1957, took a total of five days. Today, it's possible to hike up cables on the back side, but who would want to do that when you can climb it?
El Cap, Yosemite, CA – 3000ft = 88 Routes
El Capitan, or El Cap for short, is one of the most famous climbing locations in the world. By far the most well-known route on El Cap is the 3000' long climb, The Nose. It was first climbed in 1958 using aid gear and taking a total of 47 days of ascending and descending. It wasn't until 1993 that the Nose was finally free climbed (without aid gear) by climbing legend Lynn Hill. Climbing history was made again in 2005, when Tommy Caldwell free climbed both the Nose and Freerider, another difficult El Cap route, in a single day.
Chambe West, Mulanje Massif, Malawi – 5570ft = 164 Routes
The tallest climbing route in all of Africa.
Great Trango Tower, Karakoram, Pakistan – 8780ft =258 Routes
The tallest climbing route in the world.
Mt. Everest (base camp to summit) – 12000ft = 353 Routes
Not really a rock climbing route, but a worthy (insane) goal none the less. The summit is the highest point in the world, standing at 29,029ft
