American Red Cross certified multi-level swim lessons are taught by American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors. Students are provided a positive and fun opportunity to acquire important, life-long aquatic skills.

Prerequisites: 4 years of age
Class size limited to 5 students
Entry level course designed to help students feel comfortable and safe in the water; students will learn elementary aquatic skills and water exploration.
Prerequisites: Level 1 certification or demonstration of Level 1 skills
Class size limited to 6 students
This level teaches the beginning of true locomotion skills and promotes self-help; students learn rhythmic breathing and the fundamentals of both the front and back crawls.
Prerequisites: Level 2 certification or demonstration of Level 2 skills
Class size limited to 7 students
Students learn to coordinate the front and back crawls plus the fundamentals of the elementary back stroke, break stroke, and treading water.
Prerequisites: Level 3 certification or demonstration of Level 3 skills
Class size limited to 7 students
Students build endurance by swimming the elementary backstroke and front back crawls. Plus they learn more basics of the breast stoke, side stroke, and turning at the wall.
Prerequisites: Level 4 certification or demonstration of Level 4 skills
Class size limited to 7 students
Students will coordinate and refine key strokes and increase distances. Introduction to diving to diving and open turns. Further development of the breast stroke and side stroke are also included.

Prior to starting lessons each minor needs to have a parent or legal guardian complete a Recreational Sports Waiver in person before they are allowed to use the pool facility.

Registration for summer 2010 Group Swim Lessons will begin April 12th and will take place at the CSUSB Student Fitness and Recreation Center on Coyote Drive during normal operating hours

All lessons are taught at the CSU, San Bernardino campus pool located behind the Physical Education Building adjacent to the Coussoulis Arena. Parking lot "G" is the closest parking to the pool. Campus directions and map
A valid parking permit is needed to park on the CSUSB campus. Youth group swim lessons registration includes a 2 week parking pass. Please indicate on your registration form if you do not have a valid campus parking permit and will need a parking permit. Participants who register early can pick up your parking pass at the swim lesson info table in front of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center on the first day of your lesson. If you are unable to attend the first day of lessons, you can pick up your pass at the pool.
Private lessons are offered year round.
These lessons are catered to your wants and needs in a swimming program. It consists of a number of 40-60 minute lessons scheduled when you need the lesson. Lesson must take place during normal hours of operation. Please complete the Youth Private Swim Lesson Request form below and a CSUSB Aquatics Instructor will contact you to schedule the lessons. Two weeks prior notice is required.

If you do not have a permit, you can park for 1 hour ($1.50) in the coin metered spaces in lot "G", buy a day pass ($5) at a machine, or during the summer purchase a Session 1,2,3,4, or 5 parking pass ($10) which is only valid during the preset 2 week session dates at the Student Recreation and Fitness Center.
